Founder & Managing Director, MADCash
Bridging the gap between financing and underserved women micro-entrepreneurs
Nuraizah Shamsul Baharin is the founder and managing director of MADCash, a fintech company that funds micro women entrepreneurs. MADCash provides interest-free micro-loans coupled with an entrepreneurship development programme and a network of peers and mentors with an end goal to create an alternate credit score for female entrepreneurs who are underbanked or blacklisted. In October 2023, MADCash announced the successful completion of its pre-series A funding round, securing an RM5 million investment led by Artem Ventures with support from MSW Ventures and ScaleUp Founders Fund. MADCash extended its support to over 800 women in 2023, partnering with institutions like Hong Leong Islamic Bank, and PayNet.
MADCash’s Program Aspirasi Wanita is available across 12 states in Malaysia, designed to facilitate greater digital financial inclusion for women business owners. Almost 60 per cent of all micro-small enterprises in Southeast Asia are helmed by women, and yet many of them do not qualify for traditional financial services. “We work with ladies who do not have access to mainstream finance, with the goal of uplifting their business and helping them be bankable in two years,” Nuraizah says. “I have met such amazing women on this journey so far and have seen how these ladies bring impact to the people in their lives after joining our programme.”
