Ning Baizura is a renowned Malaysian singer and actress whose career spans multiple decades, leaving a lasting impact on the local entertainment industry. Ning, who is well-known for her versatile voice and captivating stage presence, took home multiple prizes, beginning with her success in the Voice of Asia competition in 1991 as a representative of Malaysia. Afterwards, in 1993, she took home the AIM (Anugerah Industri Muzik) Awards for Best New Artist and Album of the Year for her debut, Dekat Padamu.
Her musical style encompasses pop, soul, and R&B, with albums like Teguh (1995) and Selagi Ada (2003) earning her widespread recognition. Additionally, she has acted in notable films like Gemilang and Muallaf, showcasing her talents beyond the music world.
When Ning Baizura first entered the commercial scene in 1992, she was signed to a number of international record labels, such as Warner Music Group, Sony, BMG, and AMS Records Japan. Since 2008, she has taken creative control, recording music under her own label, HappeNings Records. She is widely recognised as one of the most influential artists from Malaysia, with a catalogue that includes ten full studio albums, three of which are published only in English.
