Nik Amir is a versatile filmmaker known for his roles as a producer, director, scriptwriter, and the founder of Lumatic Films, a Kuala Lumpur-based production house specialising in feature films, TV shows, and commercials. His journey into the world of cinema began after completing his film studies in Sydney in 2010.

His debut feature film, KIL, had its premiere at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in 2014, and it went on to achieve remarkable success, winning multiple awards at the 26th Malaysian Film Festival, including Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Film. Notably, "KIL" is currently available for streaming on Netflix Malaysia.

Following this success, Nik Amir's second feature, NOVA, centred around a group of friends on a road trip in search of a UFO. It had its premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2014 and was honoured with the Best Film award at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards in 2015.

In early 2023, Nik Amir released his third feature, Imaginur, to both critical acclaim and commercial success in Malaysia. The film made its world premiere at the New York Asian Film Festival in 2022. Produced, directed, and co-written by Nik Amir under Lumatic Films, Imaginur is currently available on Amazon Prime across Southeast Asia.

Currently, Nik Amir is in the early development stages of his fourth feature project, continuing his journey in the world of filmmaking.
