Nickson Auyong is a study in quiet confidence

You don’t know what ‘quiet confidence’ means until you meet Nickson Auyong. Forget every stereotype you’ve heard or seen about truly stylish people, because none of them ring true for Auyong. No arrogance, no strut, no namedropping—here is a man who knows what he likes, thinks deeply about what he puts on his body, and creates looks with intention and care.

“Over the years, I’ve realised my wardrobe has become less of a collection of clothes and more of an archive of life. Each meaningful piece reminds me of a place, a conversation, a celebration or a chapter of who I was becoming,” Auyong shares. Ahead of our shoot, he shared looks that he’d pulled and coordinated from his own wardrobe. And while the roster of labels was impressive—Prada, Valentino, Loewe, Gucci—it was clear that none of these looks were bought solely for brand clout. Each piece bore a different story, a special reason that it sang to Auyong.

“I’m drawn to timeless pieces that are thoughtfully reimagined—classic in spirit, contemporary in execution,” he told us. “I seek quiet drama over loud statements, craftsmanship over trends, and meaning over novelty. I appreciate garments with unexpected details—the kind that reveal themselves rather than demand attention.” This played out on set as a pair of fun striped Prada boxers peeking out of a waistband; a vibrant green faux-fur collar on a quarter-zip.

“What captivates me are designs that capture the spirit of their time while remaining relevant beyond it. Those are the pieces that become tomorrow’s vintage. They don’t simply survive the years—they come to represent them, while quietly becoming part of my own story.”

It isn’t about owning beautiful things, it’s about allowing beautifully designed things to become part of your story.
