Nick Wu

Founder, Bar Mood

Since joining the catering industry in 1998, Nick Wu dreamt of becoming a professional bartender. He began studying bartending in 2001 and worked hard on it for more than a decade. In 2015, he collaborated with Hidetsugu Ueno, a master bartender in Tokyo, Japan, and served as bar consultant for East End Bar in Hotel Proverbs Taipei, becoming a popular mixologist amongst cocktail connoisseurs. He has received many awards, including winning first prize at the Asian Flair Bartending Competition in Melbourne, Australia in 2008 and third prize for Flair Bartending World Cup in Las Vegas, in the US. In 2016, he participated in Diageo's World Class 2016 held in Miami, in the US, representing Taiwan and won first prize in both the Before and After-Aperitif and Digestive and the American Classic Speed Round competitions. In 2017, Nick opened a new bar, Bar Mood Taipei, in the city's Eastern District. He strives to popularise bartending to promote bar culture in Taiwan and establish a place in the world for Taiwan. In his opinion, we should never be afraid of a challenge and must live every moment to the fullest, for life only comes around once.
