Architect Nicholas Ho is the commissioner for Belt and Road Hong Kong
Nicholas Ho assumed the post of Hong Kong’s commissioner for Belt and Road, China’s global infrastructure development strategy, in September 2023. Ho is leading the Belt and Road Office under the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau.
Before joining the government, Ho was a registered architect and served as chairman of HPA, a Hong Kong architectural practice founded by his father, Bosco. Nicholas took charge of the company in 2013 and has further sharpened its design credentials and spearheaded its international expansion: the firm now has projects in more than 50 cities in 12 countries, including a focus on the Chinese government’s Belt and Road plan, as well as on smart city development, with the planning of the City of Pearl smart city in Manila among its achievements. HPA has also worked on iconic projects such as the Central Government Liaison Office building in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and the Kowloon Airport Express Station.
Nicholas Ho is a member of the Hong Kong government’s Youth Development Commission, Trade and Industry Advisory Board and Economic Development Commission’s Working Group on Professional Services, and is also Hong Kong’s representative to the APEC Business Advisory Council, and a council member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and of Lingnan University.
