Dr. Nguyen Thi Hau is a renowned expert in the field of archaeology in Vietnam

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hau is widely recognized for her blog Hậu Khảo Cổ, where she shares insights into archaeology, reflections on life, and inspiration for cultural research aimed at future generations. With a deep interest in preserving Vietnam’s historical and cultural heritage, particularly the urban heritage of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Hậu has published numerous critical essays, interviews, and research papers. Her work has fostered greater community awareness and interest in heritage conservation and Southern Vietnam archaeology.

Currently based in Saigon, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hau serves as the Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, the General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City History Association, and a lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City. Her research encompasses significant studies on the Óc Eo and Sa Huỳnh cultures, as well as urban archaeology in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Hau has also authored numerous books on archaeology, such as Urban Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City: Archaeology and Heritage Conservation and Everyday Archaeology in Southern Vietnam. Beyond her archaeological work, she explores a range of topics through the lens of a cultural researcher, journalist, and writer, with notable publications including The Online World and Me, Saigon, Always the Same, and Cherishing the Passing Lands.

Through her efforts, Dr. Hau seeks to rally public support to prevent the destruction and degradation of cultural heritage. She advocates for preserving heritage by safeguarding architectural works and community memories across generations. She believes that protecting cultural heritage helps cultivate a deep sense of connection and responsibility among Vietnamese communities at home and abroad toward their homeland.
