Conductor
The man who brought Vietnamese symphonic music to new heights through his calm, precise style and ability to convey profound emotions.
He began his violin studies at the Huế School of Music (now the Huế Academy of Music) from 1985 to 1995. From 1995 to 2000, he pursued a full-time Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music). Following graduation, he joined the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO).
Violinist Nguyễn Khắc Thành has performed with the VNSO in major domestic and international programs, gracing stages in major cities across the globe, including New York and Boston (USA); Venice, Florence, and Rome (Italy); Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Osaka (Japan); and Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia).
Driven by his passion for conducting since he first embarked on the path of classical music, he independently studied and attended short-term courses with foreign experts in this field. Conductor Honna Tetsuji has been a major influence on his conducting studies. He has conducted the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and the Hanoi Chamber Orchestra, and served as the principal conductor for the Luala Concert series for the autumn-winter seasons of 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015.
He was invited to conduct the finals of the national Sao Mai competition in 2017 and 2022. He collaborates with the "Thanh Âm Xanh" (Green Sound) group to organize outdoor concerts, aiming to bring music closer to the public. He is the principal conductor for events bringing music to school grounds, most notably the "Solla Music" program at the Chu Van An high school in March 2023.
Currently, he is collaborating with Reigate Grammar School, specializing in the training and performance of symphonic music with the school's orchestra. In 2024, he partnered with the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum to organize four outdoor concerts, which attracted thousands of classical music enthusiasts.
