A rare talent in Vietnamese cinema, Ngo Thanh Van has seamlessly taken on multiple roles—actor, director, and producer—since 2007

After securing the second runner-up title in the Miss Vietnam Photogenic contest in 2000, she began her career as a model and singer. However, it was her breakthrough role in The Rebel (2007) that cemented her reputation as Vietnam’s “big screen action heroine.” Her performance was met with widespread acclaim, and she continued to rise with Dragon Trap (2009), further elevating her name in the industry.

Transitioning from acting to producing, Ngo Thanh Van has been the driving force behind numerous critically and commercially successful films. Titles such as Co Ba Sai Gon, Song Lang, and Hai Phuong have not only resonated with audiences at home but also gained international recognition, screening at major film festivals worldwide. Her impact extends beyond Vietnam, with roles in global productions such as The Old Guard, Da 5 Bloods, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Beyond cinema, Ngo Thanh Van is deeply committed to philanthropy. She is the founder of Scar of Life, a charity initiative dedicated to funding heart surgeries for underprivileged children in Vietnam. Since its inception in 2011, the project has been a beacon of hope for thousands of families.
