Group CEO, SMRT Corporation
Neo Kian Hong is the Group CEO of SMRT Corporation, and concurrently deputy chairman of SMRT Buses and a director of SMRT Trains and SMRT Capital, among other business divisions. Neo revealed plans to re-organise the operator into five main departments encompassing trains, engineering, road, experience and corporate services soon after he assumed the post in 2018, placing importance on maintaining reliable train services.
Neo spent 30 years in the Singapore Armed Forces, holding the appointments of Chief of Army and Chief of Defence Force, among other key positions. He joined the civil service in 2013 after retiring from the army. His other roles include Permanent Secretary at the Ministries of Education and Defence, and chairman of DSO National Laboratories and the Defence Science and Technology Agency.
Neo holds a Master’s in science (management of technology) from the MIT Sloan School of Management, USA, and an engineering (electrical and electronics engineering) degree from King’s College London, UK.
