The founder and principal of NC Design and Architecture, Nelson Chow is known for investing in a range of domestic, commercial and hospitality projects with a soft, tactile, inviting aesthetic. He began his career working in the New York office of renowned design studio AvroKO, then moved back to Hong Kong to join Edge Design Institute.

Chow made his name in 2013 when his sleek, sophisticated design won a competition to reimagine a McDonald’s flagship outlet in Shenzhen, leading to work for the fast food chain across the globe. As a result, he was able to establish NCDA in 2015; the studio has since worked for clients including Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades, outer space-inspired nightclub Faye, speakeasies Foxglove and Dr Fern’s Gin Parlour, New World Development’s Timber House residential tower and PDT bar at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental.

He also drew international attention with his 2017 space-maximising design for his own Ho Man Tin flat, with an indoor treehouse bedroom as its centrepiece.

His most recent projects include cocktail lounge Zzura, space-themed nightclub Faye and wellness-themed F&B outlet WellWellWell. This year’s recognition includes best commercial interior design at the global Architecture Masterpiece awards.
