Navinda Pachimsawat

Dance and Movement Artist; Creative Director, Bangkok Dance Academy

Daughter of Wallapa Pachimsawat of the Bangkok Dance Academy, Navinda, or Lordfai, is a force to be reckoned with in the Thai contemporary dance scene. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne, Navinda is the only Thai to win the Aggregate Cup at the 11th Asia Pacific Dance Competition in 2009. She is also one of the three Asian dancers – and the youngest – to receive the Dance Web scholarship, granting her access to perform at the Vienna International Dance Festival in Austria. Now focusing on site-specific performances and helping younger generations to discover contemporary dance, Navinda aims to continue her role as a teacher and to start her own dance company. At her current studio, which has received funding from the Culture Ministry’s Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, they have participated at the regional Asia Pacific Dance Competition 11 times. In 2016, they won 53 awards, including Best School 2016. She has recently led her dancers to win Best Troupe and Choreography, along with first place under the Contemporary Troupe (Open Age). When she’s not performing, she has spoken at Tedx Charoenkrung in December 2017.
