Managing director, Sotheby’s Asia
Sotheby’s Asia boss Nathan Drahi is embracing change at the venerable auction house
The Drahi family bought the auction house when it was still a listed company in 2019 and took it private the following year. In 2021, then only in his mid-20s, Nathan Drahi assumed the challenging role of managing director of Sotheby’s Asia, taking over from his long-serving predecessor Kevin Ching.
In July 2024, Sotheby's inaugurated a 2,230-sq.m. space at Landmark Chater in Hong Kong's Central district. This venue offers a diverse range of items, including paintings, books, furniture, collectible sneakers and dinosaur fossils in the retail area, while exhibitions are held on another floor.
Drahi had previously worked in London—in private equity at alternative investment manager BC Partners and in investment banking at JP Morgan—and as a commercial officer at the auction house in Hong Kong.
