While most of the property sector remained cautious, Agung Sedayu Group’s CEO Natalia Kusumo recently unveiled her pandemic baby, Indonesia Design District (IDD) in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta—the country’s largest and most comprehensive lifestyle home centre.

The new development is nestled in a 2.2-hectare sprawl, with features adapted to the pandemic-driven shift in consumer behaviour. The shops’ stand-alone design, for example, gives brands and sellers more prominence, and provides customers with a laid-back experience as they stroll around the spaces backdropped by lush greenery.

Located near Jakarta’s airport Soekarno-Hatta and accessible via two main roads, Kusumo is eyeing local traffic as well as export buyers, making IDD a strategic venue for both consumer brands and export manufacturers. All these were conceptualised during the time of the pandemic, and are set to launch by the end of 2022.

She may be one of the youngest CEOs in the property sector, but as Kusumo demonstrated with IDD’s launch, nobody can beat her pivot game.
