Founder and executive chairperson, Hope, PCX Solutions and PCX Markets
A formidable advocate dedicated to driving social and environmental responsibility through her innovative ventures
Widely known for her influential role in promoting sustainable business practices, Nanette Medved-Po, the founder of the non-profit Hope: Business for Good and Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX), was honoured with the prestigious Asia Game Changer Award in New York in 2022 and recognised in 2023 by the Real Leaders Impact Awards.
In 2025, Medved-Po’s influence scaled new heights, particularly in showcasing the efficacy of market-based environmental solutions. She was instrumental in the early success of the Philippines’ Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law, demonstrating that a “polluter pays” mechanism can exceed targets in a developing nation without relying on taxpayer funds. This achievement provides a compelling global case study.
On the ground, her Aling Tindera waste-to-cash initiative saw massive expansion, growing from four sites to 146 locations and diverting over seven million kilogrammes of plastic waste, while simultaneously generating substantial community income. This growth contributed to PCX Markets funding the collection and responsible processing of over 120 million kilogrammes of plastic waste to date.
Further democratising nation-building, Hope launched the Generation HOPE initiative in mid-2025, a major collaboration with prominent Filipino brands—including BDO, Penshoppe and SM Supermalls—to collectively fund and build public school classrooms. This powerful partnership expands on the success of Hope in a Bottle, which uses 100 per cent of its profits for education infrastructure. Medved-Po continues to serve as a key expert in global forums, including the UN Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee, to establish a legally binding global plastics treaty.
“I think anyone can find their unique way to contribute to the world. Find your passion. Explore where you might have some influence. Don't be afraid.”
