The Bestsellers | As president of Far Eastern Department Stores, Nancy Hsu plays a vital role in promoting fashion within Taiwan’s retail industry

The fourth daughter of Far Eastern Group founder Y.Z. Hsu, Nancy Hsu joined Far Eastern Department Store (FEDS) in 1983, after graduating from Fashion Textiles and cutting her teeth at the family-run Far East Textile. She took over as general manager of FEDS when her sister retired in 2006. Under her watch, FEDS has remained dedicated to continuously expanding and showcasing new stores despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, through the successful openings of Far Eastern Xinyi A13 in early 2020, and of the Far Eastern Zhubei store in early 2022. And this commitment is evident in the company’s annual revenue, which rose to NT$55 billion in 2020, a new milestone for the brand since it was established in 1967.

FEDS is particularly strong with its CSR initiatives, holding 600 welfare activities in 2020, and actively reducing the stores’ carbon footprint, efforts which won the company the Green Leadership and Social Leadership Awards at the 11th Asia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.

Hsu has not only focused on enhancing the customer experience at FEDS, but she has also showcased her own fashion-forward sensibilities, bolstering her reputation as a discerning fashion enthusiast.
