Far Eastern Group scion Nancy Hsu successfully navigates its department store division through the pandemic

The fourth daughter of Far Eastern Group founder Y.Z. Hsu, Nancy Hsu joined Far Eastern Department Store (FEDS) in 1983 and took over as general manager when her sister retired in 2006. Under her watch—and as a result of revenge shopping during the pandemic—FEDS’ annual revenue rose to NT$46.6 billion in 2020, making it the second-largest department store chain in Taiwan, with a market share of 13.4 per cent.

FEDS is particularly strong with its CSR initiatives, holding 600 welfare activities in 2020, and actively reducing the stores’ carbon footprint, efforts which won the company the Green Leadership and Social Leadership Awards at the 11th Asia Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.
