Decorated time and time again for her contributions to journalism, television news anchor Najwa Shihab is now paving her own way through digital media

One of the most renowned journalists and news anchors in Indonesia, Najwa Shihab established herself at the international news channel Metro TV, where she garnered much acclaim before founding her own company Narasi TV, a digital news media company, in 2018.

Shihab’s career began at the television network RCTI before she joined Metro TV in 2001. She covered important stories like the aftermath of the tsunami in Aceh in 2004, which clinched her the National Journalism Award from the Indonesian Journalists Association in 2005. In 2008, Shihab received a scholarship from the Australian Leadership Awards to study media law at the University of Melbourne. From 2009, she started hosting a prime-time talk show called Mata Najwa on Metro TV, where she unflinchingly interviewed high-profile public officials, including former vice-presidents Boediono and Jusuf Kalla.

In 2010, Shihab received the National Award for Journalistic Contribution to Democracy from the Indonesian Association of Journalists. Now with 20 years of expertise under her belt, she calls the shots at Narasi TV.
