A young talented CEO of a hospital who wants to make the world a better place by providing better healthcare

Profile

Nadiah Wan holds the distinction of being the youngest chief executive officer at TMC Life Sciences (TMCLS) Berhad and was appointed executive director of TMCLS since February 2019. She is also the chief executive officer of Thomson Hospital Kota Damansara and group chief corporate officer of TMCLS since June 2017. Under her leadership, the private listed company saw a turnover in the vicinity of RM152 million plus a market capitalisation of RM1.4 billion. And despite the pandemic lockdown, TMC posted revenue of RM201 million, up 6 per cent, with profit after tax at RM20 million, up 86 per cent year on year. Recognition of her achievements led to her being named one of Forbes Asia’s 20 most powerful businesswomen—she’s the only Malaysian and the youngest to make this year’s list.
Medicine was always a subject that fascinated Nadiah even at a young age. She earned the Maxis Scholarship for Excellence and went on to earn a Biochemical Sciences degree from Harvard University before working in research at a virology lab at Boston Children’s Hospital. Upon realising that lab work wasn’t for her, she returned to Malaysia and joined the Boston Consulting Group in 2007 as strategy consultant. But her passion for healthcare led her to pursue a Master’s in Public Health (Nutrition) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. She later joined Sunway Medical Centre where she rose through the ranks to be its chief operating officer before going to TMCLS.

Nadiah has also been nominated into the Forum of Young Global Leaders Class of 2020 and also serves as vice-president of the Harvard Club of Malaysia.
