Nadhir Ashafiq

Executive Director and Co-founder, TheLorry

Nadhir Ashafiq co-founded Malaysia’s first and largest on-demand logistics digital platform

Nadhir Ashafiq, the executive director and co-founder of TheLorry, went through the school of hard knocks before he had a breakthrough in his quest to be an entrepreneur. He was always one to perceive any failure as not a lost opportunity, but a lesson gained even after a string of business failures. Nadhir’s faith and innate passion for entrepreneurship were tested one last time by his attempt (and failure) at launching a social networking app, before the idea for TheLorry was mooted.

Learning from his previous mistakes, this time he strategised: first, by ensuring he and his co-founder Goh Chee Hau validated their product and sought mentors through accelerator programmes. Although the company had a slow start, it not only provided a lori sewa lorry-rental service, but was an industry disruptor that offered services like professional house moving and furniture disposal.

Today, TheLorry is a regional digital logistics platform that connects customers to lorry, truck, van and 4x4 pick-up truck drivers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. In 2017, Nadhir and Goh were among Forbes Asia’s 30 under 30. Ashafiq has a degree in accounting and a Master’s in Finance from Curtin University.
