Muhammad Yukka Harlanda

Co-founder and CEO, Brodo Footwear

Tatler Asia

With a shoe size of 46, it is no small feat to find male footwear that is stylish and affordable. Driven by this need, Yukka Harlanda dreamed of creating a homegrown global brand as an answer to Nike, especially as the international label also produced their shoes in Indonesia. As such, Yukka and his friend Putera Dwi Karunia Uta created Brodo in Yukka’s dorm room while they were studying Civil Engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology. Launched in 2010, Brodo’s mission is to improve men’s shoe shopping experience by providing a large range of quality products. In the beginning, Brodo was sold online. Bolstered by social media, they soon created a strong brand identity. By capitalizing on a “fast-fashion” model, Brodo soon established itself as the leader of Indonesia’s retail industry with its emphasis on customer satisfaction and loyalty. In the past year, they have sold 100,000 pairs. In addition to opening 10 offline stores in places like Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta, they also have partnered with brands. In 2018, they became the official partner of the Asian Games. The six special editions that went on display at the official Asian Game store has sold in the thousands.
