As chairman of CTBC Bank, Morris Li led the bank through a sweeping digital transformation that enabled the bank to remain agile and responsive to customer needs during the pandemic. CTBC implemented a number of relief measures like reducing interest rates, deferring payments, and providing loan extensions and discounts to help small and medium-sized enterprises stay afloat. At the China Trust Financial Park, where its headquarters are located, the company also reduced the rents of businesses by up to 86 per cent. CTBC was also able to handle in six weeks cases that would normally take two years to process, including 280,000 labour bailout applications. For all of this, Li was named Best CEO in Taiwan by The Asian Banker in October 2020. Likewise, CTCB was honored as the Best Managed Bank in Taiwan.
