Montonn Jira

Co-founder, Samutprakarn Sound, Asiola, Scratch First, Wonderfruit Festival

Jay Montonn Jira, teen-idol turned artist, entreprenuer and festival organizer, has helped to edit “Lion King”, toured with international artists like Justin Timberlake, and performed at Live Earth. Born in Hong Kong, he returned to Thailand, where he won a talent competition at 10, modelled at 13, and starred as a lead actor in TV series and movies at 17. After studying music composition and electronic music production abroad, the Thai-American has made a name for himself as a DJ, arranger, composer and producer. Despite accomplishments that include starring in Thai movie Pop Star (2006), working with the infamous Neptunes as musical director and programmer in 2007, and winning accolades such as Record of the Year and Producer of the Year, he remains a laid-back and humble guy. He also founded a local studio and label, Samutprakarn Sound. Additionally, he is responsible for Asiola, a crowdfunding platform designed to support creative and community-driven ideas and projects, along with Scratch First (2014), organiser of the popular Wonderfruit Festival, which has six categories: music, art, family, food, wellness and workshops. He aims to be environmentally-friendly, by investing in Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve, Indonesia, to offset emissions.
