Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh is the newly appointed chairman of Malaysia’s national oil company, Petronas. He is known for his extensive experience in heading numerous government-linked companies across a myriad of industries including Telekom Malaysia, Bank Islam Malaysia, Felda Global Ventures Holdings (now FGV Holdings) and Sime Darby.

Bakke began his career in the corporate world, serving various accounting and finance positions from Ernst & Young, Caltex Oil Malaysia and Citibank Kuala Lumpur to Island & Peninsular Berhad, where he made the leap from chief financial officer to group general manager. He subsequently helmed several real estate and property-development companies before his appointment as group managing director and CEO of Lembaga Tabung Haji.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
