Bringing a risk taking, restlessly creative approach to a city where strict commercialism is the norm, Mike Hill is the CEO of Magnetic Asia, the company that runs Clockenflap. The giant multi-day outdoor arts and music festival has become a category defining event both in the city and across much of Asia.

Originally from the UK, he first visited Hong Kong in 1999 as a traveller and ended up staying, working in IT and forming half of DJ duo and party promoters Robot with his Clockenflap co-founder Jay Forster. Together with music director Justin Sweeting, they set up Clockenflap at the Cyberport development in 2008, graduating to the West Kowloon Cultural District in 2011—surviving an official intervention that meant they were unable to charge for entry that year—and Central Harbourfront in 2016.

Hill runs the commercial and operational side of the business, which also takes in the Hong Kong edition of globally renowned electronic music festival Sónar and thriving ticketing company Ticketflap.
