An influential figure in both education and business, Mien Uno’s life’s work culminates in her foundation for entrepreneurship education

Growing up in a family of educators, Mien Uno has had a lifelong commitment to bettering education in Indonesia. A prolific writer and well-respected businesswoman, her long and illustrious career came full circle with the creation of her own school in 2001, the Duta Bangsa College in Surakarta (Solo), where she serves as President Director.

In 2000, Uno also set up the Mien R Uno Foundation which focuses on education in the hopes of shaping more young, creative entrepreneurs. The foundation has had over 4,000 beneficiaries so far. In 1978, Mien served as Secretary General of the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association, as well as the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Uno’s many contributions have been celebrated all over the country, notably when she received the Indonesian Woman of the Year back in 1995 and Top Executive Indonesia from 1992-1993. In 2007, she was included in Globe Asia’s list of 99 Most Influential Women in Indonesia.
