Michelle Poon is a woman of many talents, working across the fields of engineering and interactive design. She is also an academic lecturer and a creative technologist, not to mention co-owner and former director of Hong Kong’s first and only hackerspace, Dim Sum Labs. Her aim for the social enterprise, which is the recipient of a Design Trust Feature Grant, is to explore various self- organisational forms in an effort to deepen the understanding around how organisations can implement environments where creativity can grow. Hacking, as she sees it, is an intellectual challenge to creatively overcome, circumvent or deconstruct the limitations, purposes or forms of virtually anything. The author of The Field Guide to Hacking, Michelle is proving instrumental in reframing the question of what it means to be a hacker.
