Michael Bambang Hartono remains on the top list of the country’s most successful business people thanks to his unparalleled leadership and business acumen.

Over the years, Michael Bambang Hartono or Oei Hwie Siang has staunchly maintained his position on the top of Forbes' Indonesia's 50 Riches. In 2021, Forbes announced the brothers as the richest people in Indonesia and among the 100 on World's Billionaires list. He is the co-owner of Djarum, one of the largest clove cigarette factories in Indonesia, and Bank Central Asia, considered the largest private-owned bank in the country. Michael and his brother, Rudi Hartono, took over the Djarum company after their father, Oei Wie Gwan, passed away. The brothers also took over BCA from the Salim family after the monetary crisis between 1997 to 1998.
