Melissa Ngiam started off as a volunteer at Yayasan Generasi Gemilang, a foundation that aims to give underprivileged children and families access to the education and support needed to help them break out of the poverty cycle. The work so inspired her that she gave up her job as an accountant to work for the organisation full time, becoming its COO, and then later taking over as its CEO.
