Martin Nievera

Singer and host

Dubbed the Philippines’ ‘concert king’, this singer-and-host extraordinaire has been a household name in the Philippines since the 80’s

With a career spanning more than 30 years, the Philippine concert king (a name given to him in the Eighties for his sold-out shows) is still unbeatable and on top of the game. Sure, there are younger contenders to his throne, but no one can come close to his versatility as an entertainer. He’s done movies, been an emcee, a TV host—all paired with such wickedly good sense of humour.

Born in the US in 1962 to singer Bert Nievera and Conchita Razon, he knew he wanted to become a singer when he was chosen to be part of a choir at a three-day concert of ballad superstar Barry Manilow. In 1982, he moved to the Philippines to pursue his dream and released his first album in 1983. He had a gift of gab and had a hit TV variety show with Pops Fernandez whom he later married and had two sons.

Nievera has garnered numerous awards, multi-platinum sales, and is a beacon for all generations. He is considered the “voice” . . . one that can melt hearts and invoke emotion like no other entertainer/singer in the country.
