This contemporary and experimental flmmaker and visual artist produces magnifcent installations when the inspiration strikes. The Dutch-Filipina, who splits her time between both countries, is a two-time Ateneo Art Awards honouree and was one of the Cultural Centre of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artist picks for 2015. She has also joined group shows at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) and the Singapore Biennale, both in the same year. Her latest opus, Our Islands 11°16’58.4”N 123°45’07.0”E , a HD one hour and 12-minute video loop depicting a surreal ati-atihan parade conducted underwater, recently garnered the Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel 2017 in Switzerland. She also had her frst solo exhibition at the Mind Set Art Centre in Taipei City in 2017. Martha is “currently investigating the usage of contemporary art as a tool for effecting social change and development.”
