For inventing a sustainable sealant made from waste plant material
Sponsored By

Mark Kennedy Bantugon’s invention could revolutionise the aviation industry. Known as Pili Seal, it’s an entirely sustainable sealant derived from waste material from the native pili tree, widely grown in the Philippines for its edible nuts. He invented it after realising that the country imports all of its aviation sealants, hoping to create jobs in farming communities. The invention won him a 2021 James Dyson Award.
