This dynamic next-generation leader is redefining the Ayala legacy through purpose-driven innovation, sustainability and inclusive growth
A new-generation leader of one of the Philippines’ most storied conglomerates, Mariana Zobel de Ayala is helping shape the nation’s urban, financial, and hospitality landscapes through purpose, innovation, and a deep commitment to sustainability. As Managing Director of Ayala Corporation and Senior Vice President of Ayala Land, she leads initiatives that blend commerce, culture, and community—creating future-ready developments designed around people and the planet.
In 2025, she spearheaded Ayala Land’s PHP 17.5-billion mall development programme, which will introduce over 700,000 square metres of new leasable space by 2028, redefining how Filipinos experience retail, leisure, and mixed-use destinations. Beyond property, Zobel de Ayala serves as Director of both Ayala Land and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), where she contributes to shaping group-wide strategies that drive inclusive growth and long-term value creation.
Her forward-thinking leadership has not gone unnoticed: in 2025, she was named to Forbes Asia’s Power Businesswomen list, recognised for balancing innovation with empathy and for championing social impact through sustainable business practices.
Armed with a global education from Harvard University and INSEAD, Zobel de Ayala represents a new generation of leadership within the Ayala Group—one that values collaboration, creativity, and conscious progress. Her vision is not only to grow the business but also to nurture communities and ecosystems that thrive together, carrying forward the Ayala legacy into a more inclusive and sustainable future.
“The role of women in Philippine society has always been contradictory: we see strong examples of women leadership—as presidents, chairwomen of large private institutions and even heads of households, yet we still lack representation in certain verticals such as mid-level management and the boards of private institutions.”
