Economist
Mari Elka Pangestu currently holds the title of World Bank Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships. She is also a former Minister of Trade of Indonesia from 2004 to 2011 and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy from 2011 to October 2014. Mari Elka earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Economics degrees from the Australian National University (ANU). She earned her PhD title in international trade and macroeconomics from the University of California, Davis. Her accomplishment in academia consists of a Professorship in International Economics at the University of Indonesia. The 1956-born is also a Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), on the Leadership Council of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), and is a patron of SDSN Southeast Asia and Indonesia.
