This business magnate and nation-builder steers Asia’s infrastructure and telecommunications giants while cementing his legacy in renewable energy and corporate stewardship

A colossal figure in the Asia-Pacific business landscape, Manuel V Pangilinan, often simply known as Manny Pangilinan or MVP, is the managing director and CEO of Hong Kong-based First Pacific Company Limited and concurrently serves as chairman, president and CEO of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) and chairman, president and CEO of PLDT Inc. His leadership is the driving force behind critical growth in infrastructure, energy and telecommunications.

A cum laude graduate of Ateneo de Manila University and a holder of an MBA from the Wharton School, Pangilinan’s acumen is peerless. Beyond his executive roles, which include chairing the Manila Electric Company, MPIC has diversified into sectors like food, with ventures like The Laguna Creamery Inc, and is pursuing further expansion in the resilient healthcare sector, with plans to potentially take over up to four more hospitals in 2025 to grow the Metro Pacific Health network.

The year 2025 highlights his relentless pursuit of national progress, especially in sustainable development. Pangilinan’s energy pivot continues with the ambitious PHP 200-billion Terra Solar project advancing, alongside new plans announced in March 2025 for another large-scale solar development, significantly bolstering the group's renewable energy portfolio.

His profound impact on nation-building was formally recognised in October 2025 when he was conferred the prestigious Lifetime Contributor Award at the 16th Asia CEO Awards. Earlier in the year, he received the Gintong Alon Leadership Award for his impactful contributions to Overseas Filipino Workers. A fervent sports patron, he was also named the Danny Floro Executive of the Year by the PBA Press Corps for a third time, acknowledging his ongoing commitment to Philippine basketball. As chairman of the Philippine Business for Social Progress and co-chair of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, and a recipient of the Order of Lakandula, his legacy is one of visionary stewardship, tempering immense corporate success with an unshakeable dedication to societal welfare.
