She is the first female recipient of the National Award for Arts in the visual arts category

Mali Wu was born in Taipei in 1957 and became the first female recipient of the National Award for Arts in the visual arts category in 2016. After returning to Taiwan in 1985, she introduced avant-garde art concepts from Europe and America. She created various installations and objects with a Western perspective and shifted her focus in recent years to environmentally friendly topics, exploring ecological sustainability and promoting community art and related cultural concepts. She also explores the role art can play in the public domain.

In March 2023, her Swing - Mali Wu Solo Exhibition opened at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, challenging conventional systems and environmental thinking. Visitors to the exhibition were inspired by tangible experiences, fostering interactions between people and opening dialogues. Utilising art as a platform to leverage her influence, she sculpts and transforms society, engaging in participatory creation.
