Well loved by local communities, Lusyani Suwandi, more commonly referred to as “Lucy”, earned a spot as a legislator under the Nasdem Party. Currently, she chairs the party's Environmental Department to help tackle many issues, such as plastic pollution and conservation. NasDem cadres spread out across Indonesia engage with community members to carry out environmental conservation efforts, such as planting mangrove seedlings and picking up trash.

Aside from her work in politics, Suwandi stepped up when the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged the country. She co-founded the newly opened Hamera Lab, which provides affordable Covid-19 testing to address the rapid rise in case numbers and the lack of access for many Indonesians. Hamera Lab became a trusted laboratory for the Indonesian Ministry of Health's repatriation programme.

Previously, Suwandi held the position of vice-treasurer at the Central Leadership Board of NasDem party in 2019.
