Lucio Tan III

A prominent Filipino businessman and grandson of Lucio Tan, Sr, Lucio Tan III has swiftly emerged as a defining figure in the LT Group, assuming leadership roles that herald a new era for the family conglomerate at just 30. A summa cum laude graduate of Stanford University in electrical engineering with a master’s in computer science, Tan III honed his expertise at global tech firms including Apple and Lyft before returning to the Philippines. His entry into the family business followed the untimely passing of his father, Lucio “Bong” Tan, Jr, in 2019, prompting a decisive succession plan.

In May 2023, he became president of LT Group, which spans tobacco, spirits, banking and property development; and in January 2024, he assumed the presidency of PAL Holdings, stewarding the nation’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines.

2025 has been a landmark year under Tan III’s stewardship. The LT Group posted robust financial results, reflecting his strategic focus on diversification and modernisation. At PAL, he spearheaded international growth by appointing Richard Nuttall as president, signalling an ambitious push into global markets. Tan III has also accelerated digital initiatives, particularly expanding e-commerce for Tanduay Distillery, blending innovation with the family’s enduring legacy.
