Liza Soberano

Though she remains open to local projects, Liza Soberano has increasingly focused on building an international career, expanding from one of the Philippines’ most recognisable television and film stars into a Hollywood actress. Her move into international film began with Lisa Frankenstein (2024), directed by Zelda Williams, marking Soberano’s Hollywood debut and introducing her to a wider American audience.

In 2026, Soberano continued that trajectory with Forgotten Island, a DreamWorks Animation feature rooted in Filipino folklore and set in a fictionalised 1990s Philippines. She voices Raissa in the animated film, which brings Filipino mythology, food, language and cultural references to a mainstream international audience alongside Filipino-American talent H.E.R.

Soberano has also spoken publicly about the importance of Filipino representation in Hollywood and the need for Asian actors to have access to more varied and substantial roles.
