Liu Shutong graduated from VU Amsterdam with a master’s degree in environmental and energy management. He is the founder of the Let Gutter Oil Fly project. After finishing his postgraduate studies, Shutong worked in SkyNRG, the first aviation biofuel supplier in the world, to help KLM use gutter oil as aviation fuel. After learning about the gutter oil issue in China, he returned home and established MotionEco, aiming to transform gutter oil into environmental-friendly fuel to ensure food safety and reduce traffic emission. Shutong is a member of Harvard SEED for Social Innovation, ISCC EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) and China Working Group of Biomass Energy Sustainability Standard (International Standard).
