Lew Chuen Hong is the chief executive of the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), where he oversees Singapore’s tech and media landscape. Under his leadership, IMDA plays four major roles: economic developer, progressive regulator, digital diplomat, and social leveller—placing it at the heart of Singapore’s digital transformation.
A former chief of Navy with a 25-year career in the Singapore Armed Forces, Lew brings strategic clarity and operational depth to the civilian tech sector. Since his appointment to IMDA in 2020, he has championed investments in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Embodied AI, and Quantum Computing, while advancing Singapore’s position as a leader in digital trust and data governance.
Lew also co-chairs Singapore’s Digital Trust Centre, aligning national innovation with global standards in AI safety and cyber resilience. His efforts extend beyond national borders through his role as a commissioner on the UN ITU Broadband Commission and member of the International Advisory Body for Submarine, reinforcing Singapore’s leadership in global digital infrastructure.
