As World Bank’s senior technology adviser, Lesly Goh guides policy makers and central banks on the regulatory impact from emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), 5G and blockchain. Goh wears other hats too: these include being a member of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Future Council on data policy; the WEF’s Agriculture Transformation Leaders Network; and the Ethics Committee of AFTECH, a self-regulating organisation in Indonesia.

An advocate for women in technology and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, Goh has given a TEDx talk on technology as an equaliser for women and youth.

Goh is also a fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School, and senior fellow at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Before assuming the public sector role, she worked in companies such as Microsoft and Deloitte.

She is a certified data architect, and worked on numerous high-profile data and AI initiatives in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, digital government and other highly regulated industries. Goh’s forte is in advanced analytics, including data mining and visualisation, machine learning, pattern matching and semantic analysis.
