Leo Tsai

Painting restorer and Founder, Leo Tsai Art & Culture

For more than a decade, Leo Tsai has been working in Europe, the US and China as a restorer. He was the first Taiwanese to assist restoration master Stefano Scarpelli in working on the paintings of Giotto di Bondone, the father of painting in the Renaissance, and Bernardo Strozzi, a major Baroque painter, in Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, Italy. In 2010, Leo was appointed to restore art installations at the Shanghai World Expo Dutch Pavilion by De Pont Museum of Contemporary Art in Tilburg, The Netherlands. He is currently working on the restoration of various oil paintings, painted wooden components and sculptures. He has also launched a fundraising campaign to raise public awareness of the need to preserve artistic and cultural assets. Leo has always kept a low profile in order to discover the essence of art. As he says, only by standing in the background can you see the truth.
