Leeroy New

It’s quite difficult to find a word that describes Leeroy New’s pieces; this only proves how ethereal his creations despite the fact that he uses familiar objects he’d find in his environment. The form itself is the message he’s trying to put across to the public, government, and art community: the (in)visibility of art and its practitioners in the country.

His dedication and spirit have helped acquire the attention of many, allowing him to participate in projects including the floating performance space/garden along the Pasig River which was in collaboration with Julia Nebrija and funded by the Burning Man Global Arts Grant.

But his works had not gone unnoticed as he was a recipient of the Cultural Centre of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artist Award and the Ateneo Art Award.

New also does not limit himself to one practice as he applies his skills in film, theatre, product design, and fashion. He has also showcased his art in various exhibitions globally.
