Lee Jim Leng

Lee Jim Leng serves as group managing director and CEO of Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB), a role she has held since establishing the institution in 2009. Bringing over two decades of capital markets leadership, she simultaneously holds key governance positions as chairman of Hong Leong Asset Management and council chairman of the Malaysian Investment Banking Association (MIBA).

After completing her undergraduate studies and Master of Business Administration in Canada, Lee began her career in commercial banking in Penang before carving out a path in investment banking. She subsequently held senior leadership roles at Schroders, UOB’s investment banking division, and Hwang-DBS Investment Bank, where she was instrumental in transforming the firm into a full-fledged investment bank. Upon launching HLIB, her strategic direction propelled the bank to a tenfold growth in market capitalisation within its first five years.

Lee remains a key authority on industry governance and digital transformation. Conferred Fellow Chartered Banker status by the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers and the Chartered Banker Institute UK in May 2023, she continues to champion practical technological innovation. In July 2026, she outlined HLIB’s strategy on artificial intelligence, advocating for AI as a targeted, problem-solving tool designed to augment human capital rather than replace it. Beyond her corporate achievements, Lee is widely recognised for her sharp personal style and active engagement in the fashion world.
