Tatler Asia

The female titan leading the world's youngest, fastest QS 5-Star University

Dr. Le Mai Lan serves as Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private multi-industry conglomerate, which operates under the mission: For a better life for everyone. Her influence is centralized across key strategic sectors: she simultaneously holds the Chairwoman position for both the VinUni University Council and the Vinschool Education System, and serves as Vice Chairwoman of the VinFuture Prize Foundation.

She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Germany's Humboldt University of Berlin and a Ph.D. in Educational Management from the Academy of Educational Management. Before entering the Vingroup ecosystem, her professional career was rooted in the banking and finance sectors.

In 2013, Dr. Mai Lan joined Vingroup and was instrumental in establishing the Vinschool Education System, which is now the nation's largest non-profit private school system. It educates over 50,000 students across 56 campuses nationwide.

Driven by a passion for educational innovation, she took on the ambitious responsibility in 2018 of founding the elite VinUni University, built on the mission of training future talents. To meet the highest standards of academic excellence, VinUni immediately forged comprehensive strategic collaborations with Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania. The results have been remarkable. After 5 years of operation, VinUni became the youngest and fastest university globally to achieve QS 5 Stars overall. The institution is now focused on becoming one of the world's top 100 universities in its next phase of development.
