Lang Jiaziyu started learning dough figurine carving at the age of three. This isn’t surprising, given that he’s a third-generation member of a family famous for the traditional Chinese craft; his grandfather Lang Shao’an apprenticed with master Zhao Kuoming and founded the celebrated brand Mian Ren Lang. But Jiaziyu is certainly giving it a contemporary twist, with designs that cover everyone from Spider-Man to Billie Eilish, as well as video tutorials to pass the craft on.
