Kuok Khoon Hong is co-founder, chairman and CEO of Wilmar International. The enterprise was established in 1991 with his partners, and made inroads into the Indonesian edible oil market by developing Sumatran oil palm plantations and Indonesian edible oil refineries.

The business then expanded to India and China, and Wilmar cemented its leadership position within Asia’s largest consumer edible oil markets. Wilmar International launched an initial public offering on the Singapore Stock Exchange in 2006, with a capitalisation of SG$2.38 billion.

Kuok’s other investments include stakes in Chinese billionaire Zhong Sheng Jian’s Yanlord Land. He also co-owns London’s Aviva Tower with Indonesian billionaire and Wilmar co-founder Martua Sitorus. Wilmar also established the “Sekolah Alam”, or Nature School in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, to allow students to connect with nature as well as raise awareness on the importance of conservation.
