Korina Sanchez-Roxas

Broadcast Journalist, ABS-CBN Corporation, Integrated News and Current Affairs Division

This award-winning broadcast journalist is one of the Philippines’ most renowned and trusted news bearers. Her dedication to public service has led her to the frontlines of the media industry.

Renowned broadcast-journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas seems to have figured everything out. She used to anchor news in highly-regarded shows like The World Tonight, Bandila, Balitang K, Rated K, and TV Patrol. Apart from regularly showing up on television screens, her voice was always heard through DZMM’s iconic segments like 'Tambalang Failon at Sanchez' and 'Korina Sa Umaga'.

In school, the young Sanchez was versatile. While she loved writing, this did not limit her interests. She joined activities that include public speaking, singing, theatre, and even volleyball.

In her early 20’s, Sanchez’ journalistic prowess was recognised by prestigious award-giving bodies in the Philippines and abroad. Among these are the Gawad CCP Para sa Telebisyon, Community Outstanding Young Achievers Awards, Catholic Mass Media Awards, KBP Golden Dove Awards, PMPC Star Awards, ANAK TV Awards, UPLB Gandingan Awards, USTv Awards, and Ateneo de Davao Awards.

Sanchez is a two-time awardee of the United States Embassy’s Thomas Jefferson study grant for Investigative Journalism which led her to study short post-graduate courses in the United States.

Most recently, she bagged the coveted Excellence In Broadcasting Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 from the PMPC Star Awards For Television. In her interviews, she vowed to “remain unstoppable” and dedicate her time to public service. "The pandemic gave me more clarity. Life is short. So instead of the health crisis limiting me, it seems it has fuelled me to live life to its new limits, the best way I can. I'm exploring my creative sides in design and business, with skin essentials, lifestyle and, soon, fashion," Sanchez shared with Tatler.

She is married to former Senator and Presidential-aspirant Mar Roxas and they have two children Pepe and Pilar.

"My life purpose hasn’t changed. But added to this now and foremost: to raise my kids as even better human beings than I ever could."
