“To hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour” – Blake’s words struck true for Katrika Winata, who as a child of seven, refused to be parted at any time from the first watch she received. Thus began her life-long love affair for timepieces (she still has that watch). At 24, she co-founded Eurobutik Bangun Indonesia, a distributor of Swiss luxury timepieces. Along with her partners, she introduced the independent luxury watch brand deLaCour to Indonesia in 2013. Kartika, who is a dog lover, studied marketing communications at the University of San Diego and psychology at Oxford University. Kartika looks up to her father – an avid watch collector and deLaCour devotee – and is grateful for his support. Unsurprisingly, EBI’s first model was deLaCour’s Bichrono. Adorned by 33 diamonds and powered by two independent chronograph movements, it won a Unique Design Watch award in Tokyo. Besides deLaCour, EBI represents Hautlence, BRM, Moser & Cie and Dietrich. Katrika has remained unflappable in the male-dominated industry. She is equally unperturbed by e-commerce as EBI serves a nice market who would not buy luxury watches online without inspecting it in person. They have recently opened “Independent” at Pacific Place.
